Home gardens and gardening are a source of pleasure, relaxation and enjoyment for most Australians. From the humble balcony or courtyard garden through to the quarter acre block or grand estates, gardens provide us with a great way to de-stress, connect with nature, exercise, and provide us with an opportunity to grow our own produce.

But there are some activities that we carry out when gardening where we need to be aware, as they have potential to cause harm to ourselves, others and the environment. This website developed by Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA) aims to highlight some of these activities and provide useful information and resources to help reduce the risk they may pose.

The Plant Safely Website has been funded by Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) using the nursery industry levy and matched funds from the Australian Government (Project Number NY12001).

Website copy was written by Mr Chris O’Connor, Policy and Technical Officer, Nursery & Garden Industry Australia.
